Remote work has become increasingly popular in recent years. The Covid-19 lockdown meant millions of office workers were sent to work from home in March 2020 – and while many have returned to the office for at least a day a week, many more are still based at home much of the time.

However, some people like to keep their work and home life different, or just want a change of scenery a couple of times a week. To facilitate this, many employees have started using flexible working spaces where they can work away from both the office and home.

In this blog post, we’ll look at some of the best places to work remotely in Liverpool.

The city has a vibrant and creative atmosphere and offers some excellent spots to work remotely. So, whether you're a freelancer, a digital nomad, or a remote worker for a company, there are plenty of options for you to work comfortably and productively in Liverpool.

The best co-working spaces in Liverpool

Liverpool has several co-working spaces which are ideal for remote workers. Using a co-working space is a bit more of a formal arrangement, where you pay a monthly or annual fee, or buy a daily pass. While there is a cost involved, the benefits are reliable WI-FI and being surrounded by other people who are at work!

Avenue HQ (Mann Island)

Near James Street station, Avenue HQ (Mann Island) is a dog friendly spot with a lovely on-site coffee shop and a friendly welcome. Day passes are available.

Address: 17 Mann Island, Liverpool L3 1BP

DoES Liverpool

This is a cool spot for creatives! DoES Liverpool has superfast internet and is a great option for creatives with 3D printers and laser cutting just some of the gadgets housed there!

Address: 1st Floor, The Tapestry, 68 – 74 Kempston St, Liverpool L3 8HL

Horton House (Regus)

At the heart of Liverpool’s business district, Horton House is a fantastic option if you are looking for somewhere to rent a desk for the day.

Address: Exchange Flags, Liverpool, Merseyside L2 3PF

Liverpool libraries & museums

Liverpool’s libraries and museums are often overlooked as options for remote work. But with Wi-Fi and coffee shops, they can be a great option for working for a couple of hours (plus you can soak up some culture at the same time!)

Central Library

Central Library is bang in the centre of Liverpool set amongst a collection of historic buildings. Being a library, it’s wonderfully quiet, so a fantastic option if you’re looking to get your head down for a few hours of focus (probably not a great choice if you have a morning of meetings arranged).

Free Wi-Fi and a café are available!

Address: William Brown Street, L3 8EW

Museum of Liverpool

This brilliant museum on the waterside is easily accessed on foot from James Street station. The welcoming café is open 10-4, Tuesday to Sunday, so is a good option for a spot of work.

If you’re visiting, it’s worth exploring some of the displays and finding out more about Liverpool’s fascinating and diverse history.

Address: Pier Head, Mann Island, Liverpool L3 1DG

Tate Liverpool

The bright and colourful café in the Tate Liverpool is a brilliant spot for a few hours. The gallery itself is free to enter although you do have to pay an entry fee for some of the exhibitions.

Address: Royal Albert Dock, Liverpool L3 4BB

Coffee shops

The most flexible option for working remotely in Liverpool is to find a coffee shop where you can enjoy a drink (and maybe even lunch) while you’re working.

Obviously, this is less private, and you are relying on the business Wi-Fi working, but it’s a great option if you’re just looking for a change of scenery for a couple of hours.

Liverpool has a vibrant coffee culture, and there are plenty of coffee shops in the city to work from. Here’s a few of our favourites…

Bold Street Coffee

An award winning coffee shop on Bold Street (with a second branch at The Plaza). Great coffee, friendly staff and a delicious menu. Can get busy at peak times, as it’s one of the best loved coffee spots in Liverpool.

Address: 89 Bold St, Liverpool L1 4HF

92 Degrees

There are several branches of 92 Degrees across the city, but our own Redwigwam HQ is situated in the offices at the back of this shop on Jamaica Street, so naturally we’re giving it a shout out! And we can certainly vouch for the quality of the coffee…

The space is big and bright, with plenty of tables available. Even venture outside for a spot of people watching in the summer months.

Address: 49 Jamaica Street, Liverpool, L1 0AH

Ryde

Also close to our offices in the heart of Cains Brewery Village, Ryde is a hub of activity. The café is cycle friendly with an onsite repair shop. There’s plenty of space, great Wi-FI and a roaring log fire if you’re looking for cosy!

Address: 5 Mann St, Liverpool L8 5AF

Coffee & Fandisha

Coffee & Fandisha is another favourite of team redwigwam, located on Brick Street in the Baltic Triangle.

You’ll find a warm welcome, fantastic coffee, and house baked goods. The ‘yellow wall’ inside is a space for local creatives to display their work – so grab a seat and feel inspired!

Address: 5 Brick St, Liverpool L1 0BL

Café Lucaya

Offers a great breakfast menu if you’re up and about early! Enjoy the light and airy interior and views through the huge windows over Liverpool’s commercial district.

Address: 22 Water Street, Liverpool, L3 1BH

Hopefully this blog has given you some inspiration for places to work remotely in Liverpool. Have you got a favourite we’ve missed off the list?
