What do Bartenders do?

Bartenders have a more direct role with customers, by taking their orders and mixing up their drinks. Their responsibilities include complying with any ID rules such as challenge 25, making traditional & classy drinks whilst also cleaning the supplies & ensuring all customers are enjoying their drinks in the establishment.

Training is usually provided with this role; all you’ll need is an interest in drinks & a great memory to memorise all the tasty cocktails!

Is it hard to Bartend?

Bartending can be hard work, yet enjoyable for the right person.

The role involves working within a fast-paced environment serving delicious drinks in a timely manner, hitting targets and KPI's as well as remember all the cocktails ingredients and keeping the bar nice & clean. 

It's thirsty work - yet rewarding. In a lot of these roles you'll find yourself receiving tips for all your hard work too, so it pays off!

What should you know before becoming a Bartender?

For a lot of these roles, full training is provided - but at redwigwam we wanted to give you some tips to remember before you start your first Bartending job, including...

  • You'll need a constant positive attitude behind the bar 
  • Having a clean bar is crucial
  • You'll also need to make sure you have a strong memory for all those cocktails!

How do I get a Bar job with no experience?

There are many ways you can get yourself a bar job with no experience, you could do this through an agency or you could pop into local bars near you and hand out your CV. The Bar supervisor is looking for individuals who are:

  • Confident
  • Have some form of customer-service experience
  • A 'can-do' attitude
  • The desire to learn.
