My part-time job: Warehouse picker packer

warehouse picker packer

At RedWigWam we have loads of weird and wonderful ways for you to make money. Worker Carol tells us about her part time job, working as a warehouse picker packer.

“I’m a retiree so whilst I don’t want a full time job I still can’t do nothing all day. I had to find things that would keep me sharp and switched on.

So I signed up to work as a warehouse picker packer  – there were lots of hours available so it’s a great way to earn some extra money for Christmas.

Now it’s not an easy job to do. It’s incredibly target driven so you won’t be slouching around. You get given goals and if you hit them you’re rewarded, so in that sense it can be quite fulfilling.

You don’t need to worry about not knowing what to do because you’ll get an induction with all the health and safety information, info about your job role and so on.

I only work a four hour shift but some of the people I work with do as many as 12, the money is really good as well and you can work nights if that suits you more.

It varies a bit too, you could be assigned as a picker, a packer or a combination of the two. So you won’t always be doing the same jobs.

Picking is exactly as it sounds, you’re assigned a product to find and you go and find where it is then action it accordingly. Packing is where you’re responsible for checking customer orders and then making sure they’re packaged securely.

It might not be for everyone, but the hours suit me and I enjoy it.”

We have lots of warehouse shifts available at the moment. Sign up to find temporary work today!
