Time is Money
We could all do with some extra cash in our pockets to be able to treat ourselves to something nice every now and again, and if you have lots of spare time, or maybe even just a few hours here and there, then there’s nothing stopping you.
So, with that, here’s the Red WigWam’s guide to earning some extra dosh, because time is money people!
Sell your unwanted items
Perhaps the most obvious and quickest way to make money is to sell the things that have been lying around your home for what may seem like years, and have been doing nothing but gathering dust. Have you have piles of old books you no longer read? Why not try to sell them before donating them? Perhaps you’ve got old furniture getting in the way? Ask neighbours if they’re interested or advertise on Gumtree. Then you have options like eBay and Amazon and not forgetting a good old-fashioned car boot sale.
Make the most of decluttering and remember, ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.’
Rent out your home
If you don’t mind dealing with people or you travel often, maybe you should consider renting out a room or your whole house on the likes of AirBnB. If you live in a major city or tourist destination hotspot, then renting out a room may be able to earn you some serious money.
You may even be eligible for the government Rent A Room Scheme that enables you earn up to a threshold of £4,250 per year tax-free from letting out furnished accommodation in your home. (This is halved if you share the income with your partner or someone else.)
Just be aware of local laws before embarking upon letting a room and give it some serious thought and consideration, as you don’t want to end up living with someone you don’t see eye-to-eye with.
